CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd Increase Asia-Europe Shipping Rates
Beginning April 15, global shipping giants CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd will adjust shipping rates for their Asia to Northern Europe and Mediterranean routes, marking another increase in FAK (Freight All Kinds) rates.
Specifically, CMA CGM announced that from April 15, shipping rates for the Asia to Northern Europe route will involve dry containers, special containers, refrigerated containers, and empty containers, covering all Asian ports to major Northern European ports. The new rate standard is set at $2200 per TEU and $4000 per FEU, indicating a significant increase.
Hapag-Lloyd also announced adjustments, with its Far East to Northern Europe and Mediterranean route rates taking effect from April 15. The new fee structure includes Far East to Northern Europe at $1600/TEU, $3000/FEU, along with various rates for different Mediterranean regions.
This price adjustment comes just two weeks after the last rate increase by both companies, reflecting a continuous upward trend in Asia-Europe shipping rates. This adjustment not only affects freight costs but may also further impact the stability of the global supply chain.
