Evergreen Announces Closure of Baltimore Port

Created on:2024-04-08

On March 30, 2024, following an incident involving the collision of the "Dali" vessel with the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge, Evergreen, a Taiwanese container shipping company, anticipates that the Port of Baltimore will be closed for at least a month. Evergreen urgently advises its customers to contact the company immediately to arrange alternative transportation options.

Due to the force majeure declared last week, the company has notified its customers that all goods entering and leaving the Port of Baltimore will be transferred to a safe port, and all contracts will be terminated. Evergreen reminds that all goods already delivered to the Baltimore dock for export should be retrieved as soon as possible, with costs associated with relocation, storage, or arranging alternative ports to be borne by the shipper.

Furthermore, the company has canceled all confirmed bookings to and from Baltimore. For import goods already at the Chesapeake Terminal in the United States, the company advises prompt collection, while empty containers should be returned as usual.

Evergreen has stated that further notifications will be provided to customers with import goods not yet arrived in Baltimore as more information becomes available.
